About Tim Hicks
Tim is a Provisional Psychologist working under supervision at Men's Life Psychology while he completes the final stage of his psychology training, before general registration. He is also an Executive and Leadership Coach who has worked across sectors including financial services, health, technology, government, construction and education.
As a father himself, Tim has a personal appreciation of the competing responsibilities and pressures that come with different stages of men's lives. Through years of working closely with men in high-pressure roles, he has seen how often difficulties go unspoken until they become serious. He is committed to offering practical, evidence-based support that meets men where they are.
Before psychology, Tim spent many years in senior leadership and coaching roles, supporting people to understand their patterns, communicate more effectively and make meaningful changes. While therapy is distinct from coaching, that experience has strengthened his capacity to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions and build trust.
In therapy, Tim creates a confidential space where clients can think out loud, look honestly at old habits and try new ways forward without fear of judgement. The work usually begins by clarifying what matters most, then moves through broadening perspective, building self-awareness, and testing practical changes in a way that feels safe to try. His style is grounded, collaborative and evidence-based.
Tim works with adults and adolescents aged 16 and over experiencing anxiety, depression and low mood, stress and burnout, life and career transitions, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, workplace challenges, confidence and self-esteem, and adjustment to change.
He draws on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness-based strategies and Solution-Focused approaches.
Tim holds a Master of Professional Psychology at Monash University (To be completed Nov 2026), Master of Science (Coaching Psychology), Master of Management, Marketing, Graduate Diploma of Psychology (Advanced) and Bachelor of Science. He is also a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation and a Member of the Australian Psychological Society.
